The Podyjí National Park

There are lots of interesting tourist ways and cycling routes in the surroundings of Znojmo. One of them, in the Podyjí National Park, is part of the international cycle route Greenways Prague-Vienna. Either on a bike or on foot , you can také also one of four Czech-Austrian thematic cycle routes, of which about thirty kilometres lead just through the Podyjí. The pedestrian visitors of the National park have at their disposal almost eighty kilometres of marked footpaths. A new special treat for the tourists outside the Podyjí National park is a cycle route along the Memories of Napoleon' s activities in the district of Znojmo. Its length is about approximately sixty kilometres.

The surroundings of Vranov

The recreational holiday resort of Vranov lies twenty-two kilometres in the west of Znojmo, near the Austrian border. The main centre of the area is Vranov nad Dyjí, much sought for by tourists, mainly because of its various possibilities of recreation connected with a nearby dam lake. The Vranov dam reservoir, called the Czech Adriatic, is one of the warmest dam lakes in the country. It offers to its visitors the possibilities of camping, swimming, water sports, hiking, cycling, volleyball, and fishing. The Chateau of Vranov belongs to the most visited baroque chateaux in the Czech Republic. Not less attractive for tourists is a nearby castle of Bítov. It stands above the confluence of the rivers Želetavka and Dyje.There is a large exposition of stuffed animals, a display of fairy-tale bogeys for children ,and a Zoo of baron Haas.
